An Important Message from your President of Activities and Wellbeing, Meg Wright

“Throughout my time at the University of Suffolk, I’ve always been engaged in the Students’ Union. From the early days of being on the netball team, involved in societies, holding the position of the LGBTQ+ Officer, becoming a Suffolk Student Wellbeing Ambassador and then being elected into my presidency role. My journey here at UOS has been such a valuable experience and I’ve met such amazing people along the way. However, I am moving on into a career that has always been a passion of mine, primary teaching, and I’m really excited to start my next chapter.

I want to give a massive thank you for all the support I’ve had in my role from the SU team, university staff and of course, the students. It has been an unforgettable experience and I will really miss all the individuals that I’ve had the chance to work closely with, it has been such a great opportunity and I’ve learnt a lot along the way. I would like to wish everyone at UOS all the best and I look forward to watching the university and the SU continue to grow and prosper.”

For the past two years, Meg has been working tirelessly as President of Activities and Wellbeing at the Students' Union, delivering on her manifesto and campaign promises, including making all social sport free for students, creating more opportunities for students to engage with local businesses through Freshers, Re-freshers, and the Christmas Market, and enhancing wellbeing services by delivering countless wellbeing events throughout her terms. We are sure everyone will join us in saying a massive thank you and goodbye to Meg, and we wish her the best of luck in her new adventure.

As per our bye-laws, we will be opening a by-election for the role of President Activities and Wellbeing shortly after Christmas. This will be to fill the role until June 30th, 2023. More details will be sent out to students in the near future, but should you wish to discuss this opportunity further please email su.democracy@uos.ac.uk.

After this by-election, our main Officer Elections will open for nominations in late January, where candidates can stand for all of our officer roles, including the President Activities and Wellbeing role - successful candidates in these elections will take over the roles from July 1st, 2023.
