Purple Flag is an ATCM accreditation scheme that recognises excellence in the management of town and city centres at night. Entertainment areas that achieve the standard will be those that offer a better night out to visitors. Purple Flag aims to raise standards and improve the quality of our towns and cities at night.
Ipswich works hard to ensure you have a great night out and is officially the only town in Suffolk allowed to fly the Purple Flag.
Just as a Blue Flag is an indicator of a good beach, Purple Flag is set to be the indicator of where to go for a good night out. Find out more here
The University of Suffolk Students' Union is part of the working group which oversees Ipswich's Purple Flag accreditation. If you hav any ideas or you would like to get involved, do not hesitate to drop us a message.
What do you need to know?
Ask Angela - this is a codeword that you can use if you feel unsafe or threatened. Just ask for Angela at the bar, or door staff. Many pubs and clubs in Ipswich are part of this scheme and we are working hard to roll it out to all premises in the town sentre and waterfront area.
Taxi Marshals - available in the Old Cattle Market, every Friday and Saturday, from 11:30 pm to 4:30 am. Simply turn up to the Old Cattle Market taxi rank and one of the friendly Marshals will help you arrange a taxi to take you home. Find out more here.
