More than 60 students came together in the Waterfront Building and online this week for the All Members Meeting, where they heard updates on the work of the SU Trustee Board and the activities of SU officers.

Members voted to approve affiliations to key organisations, including continued membership of the National Union of Students (NUS) and BUCS for competitive sports fixtures, along with AdviceUK and WonkHE. Students also raised thoughtful questions around the support available for course reps, with constructive discussion about how representation can be strengthened.

One of the most significant moments of the evening came from a motion proposed by Betty, President of the Netball Team, highlighting concerns about expensive and unsafe parking around campus—particularly affecting students living in Athena Hall. Following strong support from those in attendance, the SU has now been tasked with launching a campaign to raise these issues with the university and advocate for meaningful change.

Betty said afterwards: “I am so happy that the parking motion has been passed/approved. It finally means that we are one step closer to having somewhere safe to park, and it feels good to be able to speak on behalf of a lot of the students at the Uni of Suffolk.”

Mia, President of Activities & Wellbeing, who had worked to support Betty on bring the motion forward, said: “It’s great to see students using their voices to share and discuss concerns, improving the student experience here!”

Overall, it was a very productive and positive meeting. A huge thank you to everyone who took the time to get involved, share their views, and of course enjoy some pizza (thanks to Papa Johns for supporting this) along the way!
