There’s a new Quiet Sensory Space on the Ipswich campus for when you’re feeling overwhelmed and need a moment to reset. Right next door to the wonderful new library in the Waterfront building, the space has been created as a result of student feedback.

It’s there to give students somewhere calm to step away from the busy campus environment, regulate your senses, and take a break when things feel a bit too much.

The Quiet Sensory Space has comfy low seats, lighting which can change colour and a cool bubble/water feature in one wall.

The library has plenty of spaces for group work and quiet working, so this new room is meant for short visits; it can’t be booked – just pop in when you need time out.

Students helped shape the space through surveys and workshops, sharing what would make it genuinely useful and supportive. There’s also information in the space about wellbeing and mental health support, as well as key contact details if you or someone else needs additional help.

If you need a breather during the day, this space is here for you!
