This society is committed to developing the personal, professional, and academic experiences of its members, broadening our knowledge and skills within social work and society. We aim to do this by bringing together like-minded individuals, both on social work-related courses and otherwise, to connect to the wider community and encourage social change and social justice. We will primarily look to empower student social workers and individuals who are passionate about bringing around social justice, whilst promoting the core values and ethics of social work practice.
We hope that this society will provide a platform and opportunity for people to learn and grow as individuals, share ideas and events that relate to positive social work, gain experiences and connect to others who may share similarities. We hope to host a range of events including frequent socials, charity drives, community-based work, guest speakers and more. Ultimately, we want to promote the empowerment and liberation of people to enhance well-being in society, and give those who have an interest in social work an opportunity to engage in crucial activism, build their CVs and partake in beneficial networking outside of university for all of our futures.
Our key aims are as follows:
We hope you will join us in our journey and help make a change within university, society and the world.
President: Jade Read
Secretary: Adam Page
Treasurer: Joe Palmer
