UPDATE:

The WhatUni Student Choice rankings have been released for 2025, and we are delighted to say that not only was the University of Suffolk awarded the coveted University of the Year award, the Students’ Union has risen 12 places in the Student Union category, to be named in the top five SUs in the country. This result means UOS Students' Union is the top SU in the East of England.

In total UOS won three awards, with the other two being for Lecturers and Teaching Quality, and Student Support, and was awarded a silver award in three further categories: Facilities, International, and Postgraduate.

The SU chief exec Dionne Walton said: “The fact that these awards are voted for by students makes the accolade of University of the Year even more special. We are proud to be central to the university’s work, ensuring that the student voice is heard loud and proud. This year also saw the Students’ Union go up 12 places in the WUSCA rankings to be 5th in the country which is a fantastic result, as well as being top SU in the East of England. I would like to thank all the students who inspire us with their enthusiasm and passion every day. You’re at the heart of what we do!”

SHORTLISTED

We are delighted to announce that we have been shortlisted in this year’s Whatuni Student Choice Awards (WUSCAs) for the Students’ Union category.

Dionne Walton, Chief Executive of the UoS Students' Union said: "We are so proud that the work of the Students' Union in providing a great university experience for students has been recognised. The fact that this nomination comes from student views represents everything which we are about: by students and for students."

Now in its 12th year, the WUSCAs is the only higher education awards ceremony in the UK where institutions are judged and reviewed solely by students themselves through student reviews.

The University of Suffolk was nominated in seven categories, including the prestigious University of the Year category as well as for Facilities, International, Student Support, Postgraduate, and Learning and Teaching.

UOSSU is one of the top ten in the UK to be shortlisted, alongside Birmingham Newman University, Buckinghamshire New University, Cardiff University, Middlesex University, Queen Mary University of London, Queen’s University Belfast, Teesside University, The University of Sheffield and University of Strathclyde.

The winners will be announced on 21 May.
