Start a new sports club or society
Got a great idea for a new sports club or society? We want to hear from you!
All our student groups are student-led. Whether you want to start a new sport, bring people together around a shared interest or create something completely new, your SU can help you turn your idea into reality.
Before you get started
Have a think about:
- Your idea – What would your club or society do? What would make it different and what activities or events could you run?
- Other students – Are there other students interested in getting involved? You'll need people to help you get your group up and running.
- What you'll need – Think about facilities, equipment, meeting spaces or anything else you'll need to make your idea work.
- What's already available – Check our existing sports clubs and societies and, for sports, whether there are local clubs you could connect with.
Ready to take the next step?
For a new society or sports club, you'll need at least three committed students to take on the roles of President, Treasurer and Secretary. You'll then need to complete an application form for approval. You can speak to Aimee, the Student Activities Manager for some advice to help you get started
Once your new group has been approved, we'll provide the training and support you need to get up and running.
