Students with Disabilities

Here at the SU we take students with disabilities seriously, whether its mental health, learning disability, chronic illness or a physical illness. Coming to university can be exciting and stressful at the best of times, so we have compiled a to do list for students who identify with having a disability

Inform your halls of residence if you have a disability, if your disability is physical in nature, the members of staff need to be aware in case of emergencies, such as a fire.

If you’re a student who lives in halls of residence, or has moved to attend university, make sure you sign up to your closest GP. If you require medication, the sooner you sign up to your GP the less stress you will face when it comes to renewing your prescriptions. You can find your closest GP here

Students are also able to apply for a HC1 form to help with the costs of prescriptions, the form and more information can be found here.

Visit student services and book an appointment with the Disability and Wellbeing Advisers who can help with reasonable adjustments, extensions, Disabled Students Allowance, counselling and much more. You can book an appointment here Disability and wellbeing appointment booking | MySuffolk (uos.ac.uk)
