FAQs

ReFreshers is a welcome period for new and returning students. It’s a chance to make friends, try out new activities, and learn more about your course, campus, societies and sport teams.
22nd-27th January 2024
We know that ReFreshers can be exciting for some and terrifying for others. Whether you get excited about large crowds or prefer small, intimate events, we have an activity that will suit you. don't be afraid to show up, we are a very friendly bunch and would love to welcome you to your SU. We have designed our programme very carefully to create lots of opportunities for you to meet people and create meaningful connections.

A lot of events are completely free but still require you to book your free ticket to ensure we have enough room for everyone.

Some of our events have a small charge, but are heavily subsidized, making them as affordable as possible.

For the majority of our events, unless stated otherwise, there is no last-minute ticket shopping at the door! Grab your tickets in advance so you don’t miss out!

Your SU are committed to making as many of our events accessible to everyone. When events are held in the Social Space, our promise to you is step-free access to the venue, a lift for access to the second floor, accessible and gender-inclusive toilets, and reduced lighting and sound options for sensory requirements.

We welcome guests who have specific medical or dietary needs and are more than happy to accommodate your requirements. Please contact us in advance to advise us if you are planning to attend an event and have any questions.

UOS SU is more than happy to provide personal assistant/carer tickets free of charge. Please contact us to make arrangements in advance.

We are also working towards making all of the venues we work with externally as accessible as possible, and all venues will have step-free or ramp entrances, alongside accessible toilets, where possible.

If you have any additional needs at one of our events, please contact the Events Manager, Chloe at c.appleford@uos.ac.uk. We will try to facilitate your needs wherever we can, and we strive to place accessibility at the forefront of all SU events.
