Sports Scholars 17/18
In 2018 we supported 5 of our amazing students through our Sports Scholarship scheme. Thanks to our friends at the Foundation Board, we had the opportunity to help them financially to achieve their sporting and athletic goals. Recently we caught up with them to see how they were getting on, how the scholarship had helped and what advice they could give to students looking to apply for the scholarship.

hI SARAH! TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF AND YOUR SPORT
I’m currently studying Bioscience. I’ve been involved with bowls since I was around 8 or 9 and have been playing competitively since I was about 15. I played for the under 18 international side when I was 16 and 17, and then have played in the under 25 side for the past 5 years. Last year was a fantastic year for me in regards to my sport, I reached nationals finals in ladies singles, mixed pairs and ladies pairs which was one of the best years I’ve had in regards to nationals!
IN WHAT WAY HAS THE SCHOLARSHIP HELPED YOU?
It really helped me afford to take the time off work to travel to nationals and the international series, without it I would have had to pick up extra shifts which would have impacted on my studies.

It was super easy, after seeing some of my posts on social media, I was sent a message from the SU inviting me to apply! The form was easy to fill in.
