Your SU Internship scheme

Wish to learn new skills, be part of a great team and earn extra money whilst studying?

An SU Internship might just be right for you, apply today!

What are SU Interns?

The scheme develops on-the-job training so that you gain real world skills you need to compete for the best jobs, regardless of previous experience.

It is open to all Students’, and placements are advertised each semester. As an SU Intern, you are given the opportunity to enhance your CV to help you stand out from the crowd in today’s highly competitive jobs market.

Placements vary from business administration roles, social media, project management, events management through to supporting the Vice-Chancellor's Office with a variety of project work. Your SU Internship Scheme will see you complete two placements, the first with the SU and the next at the University. Internships are flexible to fit around academic studies. They are usually about 3 months long for a maximum of 8 hours per week during term time and holiday periods.

How does it work?

Accurate and detailed record logs are kept of the training and skills acquired. References are provided by the Placement lead for use when searching for future employment.

SU Interns are paid £7.50 per hour (£7.83ph from April). As part of the placement, you are expected to complete online training in Health and Safety, Equality and Diversity, Sustainability, Data protection and IT. Other training can be requested as available that would be applicable to each individual placement.
